Kohl’s CEO to be keynote speaker at Marquette Business Leaders Forum
Kevin Mansell, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Kohl’s Corp., will deliver the keynote speech at Marquette University College of Business Administration’s annual Business Leaders Forum luncheon Wednesday, Feb. 2.
The event will take place in the ballroom of the Alumni Memorial Union, 1442 W. Wisconsin Ave.
Mansell’s presentation, “Winning During Challenging Times,” will be open to the public. The cost of the luncheon is $40 per person. Corporate tables of eight are available for $400.
“This year the College of Business Administration celebrates its centennial anniversary,” said Linda Salchenberger, the James H. Keyes dean of business administration. “For the past 100 years we have provided our students a world class business education, but for just as long we have been a vital part of the Milwaukee business community. To that end, it’s a fitting privilege to welcome Mr. Mansell, who leads one of the region’s most visible and successful corporations.”
The Kathleen and Frank Thometz Foundation has made the Business Leaders Forum speaker series possible through a special endowment.
Holloway appoints Pratt as acting county executive
Acting Milwaukee County Executive Lee Holloway appointed former acting Milwaukee Mayor Marvin Pratt to serve as interim county executive until after the April 5 general election.
If Holloway had appointed himself as interim executive, he would have been forced to resign from his Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors seat.
Pratt previously served as acting mayor in 2004, when then-Mayor John O. Norquist resigned. Pratt, a former alderman, then lost an election for mayor to Tom Barrett.
"This decision was not taken lightly," Holloway said in a letter to the County Board. "I have full confidence that Mr. Pratt will do an excellent job."
Holloway will continue as acting county executive until Pratt is confirmed by the board. Holloway will return to his job as County Board chairman when Pratt is confirmed. Holloway is among a five-candidate field for county executive in the Feb. 15 primary.
