*Thursday, June 5, the 2014 season of Jazz in the Park kicks off with a performance by Nabori, a 10-member band known for its original salsa music with a Puerto Rican influence. The music will run from 6 to 9 p.m. with a Happy Hour starting at 5 p.m. Jazz in the Park, presented by Boston Store and Columbia St. Mary’s, is held each Thursday in Cathedral Square Park in downtown Milwaukee through Sept. 4. The summer concerts are free and open to the public and also feature food and beverage vendors onsite. *Wednesday, June 11, the South Suburban Chamber of Commerce will hold a chamber networking breakfast. During the breakfast, chamber members will be able to network and distribute brochures, door prizes and promotional materials. Each breakfast attendee will also have a chance to introduce themselves, their company and their offerings through a 30-second presentation. The breakfast will run from 7 to 9 a.m. at Parkway Church, located at 10940 S. Nicholson Rd. in Oak Creek. Cost is $15. *Wednesday, June 11, BizTimes Milwaukee and Trivera will present Social Media University – Milwaukee. The day-long conference will cover all aspects of social media and its purpose in marketing and business strategies. The conference, geared toward marketers, business owners, and agencies working B2B or B2C, will include multiple keynote presentations and several breakout sessions featuring area experts. It will also include a panel discussion on Milwaukee’s changing social media environment and exhibitors onsite. The conference will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., followed by a networking reception, at Potawatomi Bingo Casino, located at 1721 W. Canal St. in Milwaukee. Tickets cost $139. *Monday, June 16, Acuity will hold a dedication ceremony for its 400-foot flagpole, which stands as the tallest in the country. The flagpole was constructed to fly an American flag 60 feet high by 120 feet long. The site is known as the “World’s Tallest Symbol of Freedom” and also honors military veterans with a memorial. During the dedication ceremony, which is free and open to the public, ‘American Idol’ finalist and Wisconsin native Danny Gokey will perform the national anthem. *Wednesday, June 18, the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce will host “Business After Hours @ Next Act Theatre” from 5 to 7 p.m. During the event, attendees will be able to network, enjoy food from area restaurants, and tour Next Act Theatre’s new venue in the former Transpak Crane Bay building, located at 219 N. *Friday, June 20, Newaukee will launch the 2014 season of the Koss Lunar Series at the Milwaukee Athletic Club Rooftop. The weekly music series, which Newaukee presents in partnership with the Koss Corporation, features live music, a DJ, food and beverage service. The series, free for Newaukee members, runs every Friday evening from 6 to 11 p.m. through Sept. 5. The event on June 20 will showcase the music of Cherry Ball, DJ Romke, and the Video Villains. Attendees should plan to dress in business casual attire. The Milwaukee Athletic Club is located at 758 N. Broadway St. in Milwaukee.
