The Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce has changed the date of its annual All Member Meeting at Miller Park from Friday, Sept. 30 to Wednesday, Nov. 9, to accommodate the Milwaukee Brewers possible playoff schedule.
“We obviously scheduled the meeting well in advance,” said Julie Granger, vice president of the MMAC. “As we got closer to the event it became more and more clear that the Brewers might be needing the field that day.” The meeting, held bi-annually, will celebrate 150 years of the MMAC and will be held on the field at Miller Park.
According to Granger, as it got closer to the event and it was pretty evident that the team would be making a post season run, concerns about field conditions and adequate set up and take-down time were considered.
“Even though there isn’t a game on Sept. 30, everyone wanted to make sure the field was in pristine shape for possible playoff games at Miller Park.”
The MMAC has been in contact with everyone who pre-registered for the event and because of the longer time frame almost everyone was able to accommodate the new date, Granger said.
The event is held every other year and will lay out the organization’s agenda for developing a talented workforce, fostering a thriving economy and leveraging the region’s distinctive assets. More than 1,200 business and community leaders are expected to attend.
“No one is happier than we are about their success,” Granger said. “The Brewers and the MMAC have a pretty long history together, and Miller Park is definitely the appropriate venue for this meeting. We didn’t want to change the venue; we wanted to preserve the experience for everybody. It isn’t something you get to do everyday."
