Merger and acquisition activity has been robust in the Milwaukee area with numerous large, medium-sized and smaller firms being acquired in recent months.

To provide business leaders with more insight on how to take advantage of the hot M&A market, BizTimes Milwaukee will host its annual M&A Forum event on Thursday, April 21, from 7:30 to 11 a.m., at the Milwaukee Marriott Downtown hotel.

Uline chief financial officer Frank Unick will be the keynote speaker. He will tell the story of the Pleasant Prairie-based company’s significant growth.

A panel discussion will focus on “The Psychology of Growing Your Business or Deciding to Sell.” Panelists will include: Steve Ziegler, CEO of Inpro; Paul Stewart, partner with PS Capital; Thomas Myers, shareholder with Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c.; and Jim Feeney, former CEO/owner of Wisconsin Film and Bag. The panel will be moderated by Ann Hanna, managing director of Schenck M&A Solutions.

A second panel discussion will focus on “Who is Your Ideal Buyer?” Panelists will include: Lisa Reardon, CEO and chairman of Owner’s Edge Inc.; Dave Strand, president and CEO of Wisconsin Oven Co.; and Mark Grosskopf, president, CEO and owner of NRC. The panel will be moderated by Greg Larson, senior vice president of commercial banking for Bank Mutual.

The event will also include breakout sessions: “Business Owner’s Playbook: Three Ideas to Create Long Term Value,” “Beyond EBITDA: How Private Equity Views Your Business,” and “So You’ve Sold Your Business, Now What?”
