What was the smartest thing your company did in the past year?

“Our smartest decision started in 2011 with the installation of new LED lighting in our parking structures and lighting upgrades in our office buildings in 2012. With the LED lighting installation alone, we have managed to save over 137 households of electricity in 2012 with more planned in 2013.”

What’s new at your company?

“I am still pretty new to Bayshore Town Center, but we just announced the addition of Express to our lineup of stores and we expect to announce several other stores and remodels this year as well.”

Do you plan to hire any additional staff or make any significant capital investments in your company in the next year?

“We are currently working on hiring an additional maintenance technician. Our capital investments will include updated paint and carpeting in our residential tower, focused investments for our new retail, restaurant, and office tenants, and some continued energy efficiency upgrades to our utility systems.”

What will be your company’s main challenges in the next year?

“Continuing to bring new-to-market and/or relevant retail/restaurant stores to the Milwaukee metropolitan area.”

What’s the hottest trend in your industry?

“Experience. Retailers, restaurants, department stores are all focusing on the experience. How you interact with the stores, the shopping centers, and how they interact with you has been of great focus in the most recent retail cycle. From technology to textiles to fragrances it is all being looked at. Bayshore Town Center has been focusing on the experience from curb to curb to try to better the shopping, working, and living experience. Our tag line is “Fresh Air Included,” and we strive to have the best shopping experience in Milwaukee.”

Do you have a business mantra?

“My philosophy is simple: ‘We create The Perfect Place for our tenants and their customers to form lasting relationships.’”

From a business standpoint, who do you look up to?

“I look up to my father, Kevin Moss. He has been an example to me because he has been in the same industry and has always been willing to share advice and bounce ideas around with me. I consider him a true confidant and coach.”

What was the best advice you ever received?

“Dress, walk, talk, and act like where you want to go, not where you are.”

What’s the funniest thing that ever happened to you in your career?

“It may not be the funniest but certainly memorable: One day while operating a mall in the West, I had my front office yell back to me (as I was meeting with my boss) that I should turn on my radio. I turned it on just in time to hear my security dispatch yelling that they could see my security vehicle on fire! I ran outside to see my security officer (driver) clearing the area around the vehicle and then watched a lot of gallons of water get pumped into the vehicle by the fire department. Surprisingly, the only thing to survive the vehicle fire untouched was….the officers Mounty hat! Just a faulty head gasket that turned into a full-fledged vehicle fire in the parking lot. It sure was not funny during the incident but pretty good laughs afterward.”

What do you like to do in your free time?

“I like to spend time with my family, play with my kids, play guitar and other music, and volunteer with my church. And if I have time, I like to play some basketball, too.”
