Froedert and Community Health

Froedtert Hospital was one of three Wisconsin hospitals named among the “2009 Top 100 Hospitals to Work For” national list compiled by Nursing Professionals magazine. Early in 2009, the magazine sent a survey to 25,000 randomly selected hospital nurses measuring their job satisfaction. The nurses were asked about their hospitals’ flexible working arrangements, whether their employers were family-friendly, how well their hospitals supported personal training and development and how strong the nursing voice is within their organization. The magazine used the results of the survey to compile the Top 100 list. Froedtert will be featured in the Spring 2009 issue of Nursing Professionals.

A/E Graphics

A/E Graphics, with locations in Milwaukee and Brookfield, recently expanded its printing capabilities to include outdoor site signs; banners; wall graphics; window graphics; point of purchase displays; magnets; labels; and more as a result of the purchase of a Roland SOLJET PRO III XC-40 printer. A/E Graphics has also added sign installation, removal and storage to their list of services. In addition the company plans to expand into vehicle, fleet and floor graphics. The new printer/cutter utilizes eco-solvent ink technology with VOC-free inks. The printing process requires no venting, and it produces a product with deeper, richer looking scratch resistant colors. Outdoor signs and banners created by the printer can hold up, even in Wisconsin’s weather, for up to 3 years. In addition, because the machine is capable of both printing and cutting, turnaround times can be greatly reduced. A/E Graphics has done projects with the new print system for Time Warner, Gilbane, Cousins Subs, Siegel-Gallagher, Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co., Eppstein Uhen Architects and MillerCoors.

Verizon Wireless launches new calling plan

Verizon Wireless recently launched Friends & Family, a new feature that gives customers control over how they use their plan minutes.

Beginning Sunday, Feb. 15, Verizon Wireless customers will be able to identify five or 10 numbers as a Friends & Family calling group. Minutes used when placing or receiving calls to anyone in the calling group will not count against customers’ plan minutes. Customers can even include landline numbers or wireless numbers of those who aren’t Verizon customers. Verizon also will allow customers to update their Friends & Family directories.

“This is a milestone in the industry,” said Mike Lanman, vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless. “For the first time our customers can take control over their personal calling plans, build it to suit their needs yet still reap the benefits of being on the nation’s most reliable wireless network. And since there are no long distance charges, those numbers can be anywhere in the country. There is no charge to sign up and no charge, ever, to make changes to their Friends & Family calling directory.”

Existing Verizon Wireless customers can visit www.verizonwireless.com/myverizon to check their eligibility for Friends & Family.
