Kindness Architecture + Planning

Scott Kindness, architect for the recently approved Downer Avenue master plan and for the proposed luxury residential 27-story tower/combined restoration effort for the Frederick Goll Mansion, has created Kindness Architecture + Planning, Milwaukee. He specializes in a variety of building types including mixed-use, multi-family living environments, assisted living, commercial, retail and specialty buildings, as well as master planning. Kindness Architecture + Planning is a spin-off from Workshop Architects, which Kindness co-owned for more than five years. Kindness will continue to build upon an extensive portfolio that emphasizes personalized, fiscally responsible architectural design solutions at his new office located at 517 E. Menomonee St. in Milwaukee.


Zizzo Group Advertising and Public Relations

Zizzo Group Advertising and Public Relations, Milwaukee, recently announced the launch of a financial literacy communications outreach program for St. Paul, Minn.-based Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union. Affinity Plus is the largest, not-for-profit credit union with state-based assets in Minnesota. Zizzo Group worked with the credit union to launch “Affinity Plus On The Money”—an integrated media program aimed at helping Minnesota consumers make smarter financial decisions. The program features Affinity Plus’ financial experts sharing know-how that helps people take control of their finances. Affinity Plus enlisted Zizzo Group for this engagement based on the firm’s history of creating similar programs for clients across the country. Zizzo Group brought together two media partners, Minneapolis Star Tribune and CBS-affiliate WCCO-TV, to provide an integrated blend of media resources that includes print, broadcast and online advertising. A dedicated website, at www.onthemoneymn.com, serves as a 24/7 information resource for consumers.

Von Briesen & Roper, S.C.

Randall Crocker, president and chief executive officer of von Briesen & Roper, S.C., Milwaukee, and Attorney John Cabaniss recently announced that Cabaniss will open his own law office. The new firm will be known as the Cabaniss Law Office and will be located at 10200 N. Port Washington Road in Mequon.

Mount Mary College

The Medical Society of Milwaukee County has awarded Mount Mary College, Milwaukee, a $2,000 grant to support a six-month continuation of its 2008 NEW Leadership Wisconsin program titled Building Health Policy Leadership Capacity in the Health Care Workforce. The NEW Leadership program is part of Mount Mary’s Women’s Leadership Institute. The program will help develop a model to integrate greater awareness of public health disparities and policy challenges facing Wisconsin and the Milwaukee community. The Medical Society grant will further allow the program to: develop a monthly seminar series in which students can discuss their service learning projects with NEW Leadership Wisconsin staff and selected Mount Mary and Medical College of Wisconsin faculty, and provide support for workshops or meetings with health professionals. The expanded service-learning component helps students explore health care issues by spending 15 to 20 hours in a community health care setting. The goal is to learn more about health care disparities and find solutions that reduce those inequalities. 


Manpower

Manpower Inc., Milwaukee, recently announced that it has been named one of Pink magazine’s 2008 “Top Companies for Women,” and is the only employment services firm named to the list. Pink’s exclusive annual ranking, issued for the second time this year, recognizes the prominent role of women at Manpower, particularly in top leadership roles. Pink solicited nominations from U.S.-based companies, including responses to nearly 100 questions and data points related to women’s advancement, before narrowing the field to 13 winners. Among the criteria, the magazine evaluated: Power – the number of women in board seats and

C-suites, and with P&L responsibility; Pipeline – leadership training, mentoring and coaching programs designed to retain and advance talented women; and Pay – evidence of pay equity, including the percentage of women in the top fifth of the organization’s payroll. Women comprise 40 percent of Manpower’s executive management team and 43 percent of country managers worldwide are women. Within Manpower’s operations in China, nearly 80 percent of all employees are women, including the managing director; and within U.S. operations, 70 percent of employees at the manager-level and above are women.

D2 Sales LLC

D2 Sales LLC, Mequon, recently announced that the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center has chosen the My Patient Passport Express kiosk for its patient check-in program. The My Patient Passport Express kiosk allows patients to check-in, make future appointments, and update their medical history, all using a touch screen system. Patients can use their credit card to make co-pay payments, and sign documents using the integrated

electronic signature pad. The D2 My Patient Passport Express kiosk provides patients with the convenience of easy check-in, records updating, co-pay payment acceptance and wayfinding and mapping features.

Milwaukee Public Television

Milwaukee Public Television’s locally produced weekly magazine program, has earned a “Salute to Excellence” award from the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ).  The award, announced at the recent UNITY ‘08 Convention in Chicago, was presented to Liddie Collins, a producer for Black Nouveau. Black Nouveau is a weekly, magazine-style program designed to promote a better understanding of African Americans, to explore issues, and to educate and inform. The half-hour production airs at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays on MP-TV Channel 10.

VISIT Milwaukee

“Hemispheres,” United Airlines’ in-flight magazine, recently selected Milwaukee as one of four cities to be featured in the magazine’s 2008 Insight series. The Insight: Milwaukee feature will incorporate 36 pages of editorial content combining traditional travel-related information with a comprehensive look at the economic influencers and industry sectors that shape the business landscapes and lifestyles in the region. Insight: Milwaukee will be featured on all United and United Express flights for the month of October. “Hemispheres” will launch its efforts in the Milwaukee region with a media reception on August 5, 2008. The magazine’s editorial and photography process will continue through the month of August. Insight: Milwaukee will examine in depth the people, places, industry and history of Milwaukee and surrounding areas and will showcase economic development and emerging industries, real estate, educational and health care resources, tourism and convention opportunities, dining, accommodations, recreation, and quality of life advantages. The Insight: Milwaukee editors, writers and photographers will work closely with the local community and area leaders to generate story ideas and photographs. “Hemispheres” is seen monthly by more than 6 million of the world’s business and leisure passengers traveling to over 210 destinations in 26 countries.
