Nemschoff Inc.

Nemschoff, Sheboygan, promoted Paul Nemschoff to executive vice president and chief operating officer; John Rademacher to vice president of sales; Scott Reynolds to vice president of product development and Peter Hellman to vice president of finance and manufacturing. Nemschoff joined the company in 2004 and most recently served as vice president of sales and marketing. Rademacher has been with Nemschoff for about 20 years and most recently served as regional sales director. Reynolds has been with the company for about 25 years and most recently served as director of seating research and development. Hellman joined Nemschoff in 2006 and most recently served as vice president of finance.

Michael Best & Friedrich LLP

David Smith, a partner in the intellectual property group at Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, Milwaukee, will serve as chair of the firm’s management committee. Smith succeeds David Krutz, who will assume Thomas Obenberger’s role as the firm’s managing partner in 2008. Smith joined the firm in 1978. He previously served two management committee terms and as chair of the intellectual property group. Also, Linda Bochert, a partner in the firm’s Madison office, joined the firm’s management committee. Bochert has been with the firm for 16 years. Scott Beightol was re-elected to a three-year term of the management committee.

Batzner Pest Management Inc.

Batzner Pest Management Inc., New Berlin, was named one of the Top 100 pest control companies in the U.S. by Pest Control Technology, an industry magazine. Batzner has made the Top 100 list for the last five consecutive years. Batzner Pest Management also recently received a Quality Control designation from the National Pest Management Association, Fairfax, Va. The designation is shared by about 200 other pest management companies in the U.S. and requires high levels of business conduct and customer service.

Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co.

Northwestern Mutual Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co., Milwaukee, awarded a $10,000 grant to Kyle’s Korner, Wauwatosa, in recognition of Steven Saber, a Northwestern Mutual employee and volunteer at Kyle’s Korner. Saber received one of 25 Outstanding Volunteer awards as part of Northwestern Mutual’s annual community service award program. The grant money will go toward programs geared to children and their families. The community service awards program is funded by the Northwestern Mutual Foundation and will donate approximately $265,000 this year to its representatives’ community service organizations nationwide.

R.A. Smith & Associates Inc.

R.A. Smith & Associates Inc., Brookfield, expanded its transportation services to better meet the needs of clients in northeast and north central Wisconsin. Doug Senso, a project manager in the transportation division of R.A. Smith, has relocated from the Brookfield office to the Appleton office. Senso specializes in highway and roundabout design. He has more than 15 years of experience in roadway design and transportation construction management. The Appleton office also offers transportation services including traffic analysis, structural design and construction service.

Waukesha Floral & Greenhouse Inc.

Denise Gehrke of Waukesha Floral & Greenhouse Inc., Waukesha, received the Accredited in Floral Design designation and was inducted into the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD), Baltimore, Md. AIFD is a non-profit education association for the advancement of professionalism and the art of floral design. Members are distinguished by the use of the AIFD mark as an addendum to their name.

The Milwaukee Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry

Business Marketing Association of Milwaukee

The Business Marketing Association (BMA) of Milwaukee received three achievement awards from BMA International, Chicago. BMA-Milwaukee received awards in the membership, programs and student education categories. The chapter also received a special Momentum Award, in recognition of its 30 percent growth in membership within the last year.

Wisconsin companies win awards for environmental excellence

Nine Wisconsin companies received the Wisconsin Business Friend of the Environment Awards for outstanding achievements in environmental protection this year recently.

These awards honor companies that have made a serious commitment to reduce pollution, and minimize waste,” said Scott Manley, director of the Wisconsin Environmental Working Group, the affiliate of Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce that sponsors the annual awards.

The winners were chosen from a field of 41 candidates. An independent panel of judges including an environmental regulator and representatives from industry, environmental groups and the University of Wisconsin System selected the winners.

"These companies have set the standard for good environmental citizenship in Wisconsin," Manley said. "Every day, they use innovation to go beyond government mandates to keep Wisconsin clean."

Business Friend of the Environment Award winners are categorized according to number of employees and judged in the areas of pollution prevention, environmental innovation and environmental stewardship.

The winners were:

Pollution Prevention Awards – Drangle Foods Inc., Gilman; Louisiana Pacific Corporation, Hayward; and Weather Shield Manufacturing Inc., Medford

Environmental Innovation Awards – GDSI, Amery; Coating Excellence International, Wrightstown; and Kohler Co., Kohler.

Environmental Stewardship Awards – Flambeau Mining Co., Ladysmith; Bell Laboratories Inc., Madison; and Harley-Davidson Motor Co., Milwaukee.
