Everest College

Everest College Milwaukee recently added a massage therapy career-training program at its campus in Milwaukee’s Park East corridor. According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for massage therapists is expected to grow 14 to 19 percent between 2008 and 2018. The nine-month program provides the basic knowledge, tools, ethics, and behaviors for students to practice as a massage therapist in a variety of health care settings, including hospitals, health spas, fitness centers, tourist destinations, etc.

Milwaukee School of Engineering

Milwaukee School of Engineering earned the 19th spot on U.S. News & World Report’s 2012 list of Best Universities in the Midwest. MSOE was ranked 11th in the Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs category among engineering schools whose highest degree is a bachelor’s or master’s. New this year, MSOE was ranked in the “Best Universities in the Midwest” category. In past years, MSOE was included in the “Best Colleges in the Midwest” category.

Godfrey & Kahn S.C.

The National Association for Female Executives and Flex-Time Lawyers named Milwaukee-based Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. as a NAFE and Flex-Time Lawyers Best Law Firm for Women. NAFE is a division of Working Mother Media. This is the first time that Godfrey & Kahn has been named a Best Law Firm for Women. The 50 winning firms were selected based on their responses to an application measuring areas such as workforce profile, family-friendly benefits and policies, flexibility, leadership, compensation, advancement and retention of women.

Restat

Milwaukee-based Restat, a pharmacy benefits manager, has achieved the highest level of certification in the HR Policy Association’s standards of business transparency. Restat was one of only four PBMs to have agreed to the Association’s Transparency in Pharmaceutical Purchasing Solutions standards. The standards promote contracting that makes it easier for employers, their beneficiaries and dependents to understand the true price of a drug. The standards are designed to ensure that pharmacy benefit services are structured to encourage the use of the most clinically appropriate and cost-effective drugs available.

Alverno College

Alverno College, Milwaukee, was recently ranked first in the Midwest for doing “the best job of educating undergrads,” in U.S. News & World Report’s 2012 America’s Best Colleges guidebook. This is the second consecutive year Alverno received the honor. Top marks for the college came in the “Strong Commitment to Teaching” category, in which college presidents, provosts and admissions deans were asked to “identify schools where the faculty has an unusually strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.” This marks the 11th consecutive year U.S. News & World Report has recognized Alverno in its annual rankings. Alverno College was also ranked in the following categories: First-Year Experience, Ethnic Diversity and Learning Communities.

Proforma ScoutPromotions

Candace Lillund recently joined the national network of Proforma ScoutPromotions and launched her own Proforma program in the Milwaukee area. Proforma offers brand and graphic communications solutions through promotional products, commercial printing services, business documents and eCommerce solutions. Proforma ScoutPromotions is part of the Proforma Network of more than 700 independent offices throughout North America. Lillund has more than 20 years experience in the printing industry. She has held sales, management and sales executive level leadership positions at Xerox.

Debbie Turelli recently founded ballera Dance & Active Wear in Brookfield. Turelli has more than 10 years experience in the dance, dance costume and shoes, and hair dressing businesses, and brings a mom’s perspective to the purchase and use of classic, popular and trendy dancewear and shoes for all ages and sizes. ballera Dance & Active Wear carries the following brands of retail dance product: MotionWear, Mirella, BLOCH, Leo’s, B-Skinz, Grishko, and Capezio. ballera also sells shoes for point, character, hip hop, modern, jazz and tap dancing; recital and dance accessories, hair, jewelry, makeup, bags, gifts, and cheer, volleyball and gymnastics attire.

Trivera Interactive

Seven websites created by Menomonee Falls-based Trivera Interactive were recently recognized for outstanding work in internet and interactive design by New York-based Graphic Design USA. They include: US Peacekeeper Products, www.uspeacekeeperproducts.com; Strattec Security Corp., www.boltlock.com; ZBB Energy, www.zbbenergy.com; Wayland Academy, www.wayland.org; Jailhouse Restaurant, www.jailhousewi.com; Samara Jewelry Design, www.samarajewelrydesigns.com; and Amici’s Italian Restorante, www.amicisrichfield.com. The 2011 American Graphics Design Awards attracted more than 8,000 entries. Approximately 15 percent are recognized with an awards certificate of excellence. Andy Frahm and Ian McDowell are Trivera’s designers who will be listed, along with examples of the winning designs, on the Graphic Design USA website and in a full-color 300-page publication.
