The Wisconsin Economic Development Corp.’s website, www.inwisconsin.com, has been ranked third in the country as an effective tool providing online corporate site location information.

The ranking comes from an independent report completed by Sigala Inc., a consulting firm focused on urban and regional planning, and highlights the site as a resource for companies and site selectors determining where to establish their operations. Sigala reviewed more than 300 features on economic development websites in all 50 states, looking at factors such as lead generation, community search, property search and location analysis. The WEDC’s site also earned a No. 1 ranking in property search capabilities and tied for first place nationwide for its community search tools. Inwisconsin.com is about a year old.

Marquette University

The Marquette University College of Business Administration’s undergraduate supply chain management program has been saluted as one of the best in the country by Gartner Inc., a top supply chain industry organization. Marquette’s program was listed as 16th on a list of the top 25 programs. According to an announcement from the university, Gartner surveyed more than 400 practitioners and academics to rank collegiate supply chain programs. Each program was evaluated on industry value, program size and program scope. Respondents analyzed how effective programs are in meeting the changing needs of supply chain professionals as well as how students are tied to research and innovation initiatives. Gartner also incorporated enrollment numbers, programs and faculty size into its ratings decisions.

Goodwill Industries

Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson, a senior vice president at Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin & Metropolitan Chicago, has been named international president of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Buckhanan Wilson, who lives in the Milwaukee area, has been elected for a four-year term and is the first Wisconsin resident to fill the role. As international president, she will weigh in on policy, create programs and define the leadership tone for the sorority’s members and chapters across the globe. During Buckhanan Wilson’s term, the organization’s international program will follow the theme “Launching New Dimensions of Service.” Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. is an international service organization established by African-American, college-educated women at Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1908. The organization has more than 265,000 members worldwide.

Anthem Inc.

WellPoint Inc., the Indianapolis-based parent company of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Wisconsin, has announced it will change its name to Anthem Inc. The company said the move is being made to more clearly align its corporate and product brands and streamline the communication of its values, as well as increase the impact its divisions have on its members, associates and investors. The name change, which must meet shareholder approval, is expected to be complete by the end of the year. A shareholder meeting will be held on Nov. 5 in Indianapolis. WellPoint Inc. was formed when WellPoint Health Networks Inc. and Anthem Inc. merged in 2004. It is one of the largest health benefits companies in the country, with 67 million people served by its affiliated companies and almost 37 million enrolled in its health plans.
