During a 38-year career with 3M, the company that developed Scotch Tape and the Post-it Note, Dwight Peterson learned the importance of innovation and creative thinking.

To fuel innovative thinking at Lawrence University, Peterson, and his wife, Marjorie, residents of North Oaks, Minn., have established an endowed professorship in innovation with a $1.5 million gift.
