Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield launches Medicare special needs plan 

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Wisconsin is launching a Dual-Eligible Special Needs Medicare Plan, known as a DSNP, in the Milwaukee area, including Kenosha, Milwaukee and Waukesha counties. The plan coordinates benefits for people eligible for both Medicaid and Medicare.
 

“People eligible for both Medicaid and Medicare often have complex health care needs,” said David McNichols, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s central region president for Medicare. “This plan helps to coordinate care with the goal of delivering better outcomes.”
 
Called Anthem Dual Advantage, it is now available for enrollment with an effective date of Jan. 1, 2015. It features $0 premiums and $0 copays, as well as dental and vision benefits, an allowance for over-the-counter health care items, a hearing aid allowance, online doctor’s visits and free membership at participating SilverSneakers fitness centers.
 
The plan is available to anyone who has both medical assistance from the state and Medicare. Premiums, co-pays, co-insurance and deductibles may vary based on the level of extra help received. For more information, call (855) 878-1113.
