‘Airplane!’ actors promote Wisconsin in new ad

Organizations:

Former Milwaukee Bucks player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wonders why he ever left Wisconsin in a new TV ad released today by the Wisconsin Department of Tourism.

Abdul-Jabbar and Robert Hays reprise their roles as stars of the 1980 comedy “Airplane!” in the commercials, during which the pilots fly over Wisconsin and talk about its amenities.

The 30-second spots include footage from summer, fall and winter in the state, and premiered today at the Wisconsin Governor’s Conference on Tourism in Lake Geneva.

Wisconsin natives and “Airplane!” writers and directors David and Jerry Zucker and Jim Abrahams directed the ads, the first of which can be viewed here.
