National Philanthropy Day advances an international movement AFP has launched to “honor and celebrate the best examples of philanthropy in our communities,” said William Martin, president of Jericho Resources, Inc. and president-elect of AFP Southeastern Wisconsin.

National Philanthropy Day gives the association as opportunity “to gather a group of people who are all very committed to philanthropy,” Martin said, adding that it also aims to inspire and encourage others to incorporate philanthropy into their lives.

Southeastern Wisconsin’s AFP affiliate honored a lineup of top philanthropists during a luncheon on Monday at the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee hotel. Award winners were selected by a nomination committee that vetted award entries submitted by both AFP members and non-members.

In a broad sense, the nomination committee sought to salute “individuals who have demonstrated a real commitment to improving the quality of life in this community,” Martin said.

This year’s award winners are:

*Mick Hatch, recipient of the Todd Wehr Volunteer Award
*William Radler, recipient of the Evan P. Helfaer Donor Award
*A.O. Smith Foundation, Inc., recipient of the Wisconsin Organization Philanthropy Award
*John and Elizabeth Feith, recipients of the Leave a Legacy Award
*Steve Atwell, (posthumous) recipient of the Scott Cutlip Professional Fundraiser Award
*Isabel Pesci, Elizabeth Korb and Taylor Newcomer, recipients of the Philanthropic Youth of Today Award

While calling attention to impactful philanthropists, AFP also gave National Philanthropy Day attendees a chance to put their own philanthropy into action. With support from Jericho Resources, AFP positioned $25 gift cards at each table for attendees to donate to a cause of their choice and leverage with their own donations.
