Actor Taye Diggs to chair AIDS Walk Wisconsin Saturday

Walk to support HIV prevention, care and treatment

Actor Taye Diggs, known for his roles in Broadway musicals Rent and Hedwig and the Angry Inch as well as the TV series Private Practice and the 1998 romantic comedy “How Stella Got Her Groove Back,” will attend the 27th annual AIDS Walk Wisconsin at the Summerfest Grounds on Oct. 1 as the event’s honorary chair.

Diggs and AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin president and chief executive officer Mike Gifford will lead the opening ceremonies of the walk and 5k run, which raises money to support the prevention, care and treatment of HIV.

Gates open for the event at 9:30 a.m. Saturday for registration, event activities and live performances. The 5k run begins at 10:30 a.m. and the event ceremonies begin at noon.

The walk and 5k run route will extend north from the Summerfest grounds past Discovery World to Veteran’s Park.
