Drawing from both personal experiences and outside case studies, John Baker Jr. advises readers on ways to take a more humanistic approach to management in his recently published book, “A Guide for New Managers Young and Old.”
Baker is vice president of manufacturing at E.C. Styberg Engineering Co. Inc. in Racine. Central to his book is the question, “Are managers born or are they taught?” as he explores how childhood experiences and environments impact individuals’ management skills and potential.
Part of Baker’s book emphasizes the need for managers to remember that people come from different backgrounds, are at different social and educational levels, and learn at different paces.
He also tailors some of his advice specifically to managers new on the job and offers additional advice to those who are more seasoned.
“A Guide for New Managers Young and Old” is available on www.amazon.com for $14.86.
