Democrats upset over Krusick amendment

Some Assembly Democrats are so mad at Rep. Peggy Krusick for an amendment that led to an all-night session earlier this week that there’s talk about reviewing her status in the Dem caucus.
Rep. JoCasta Zamarripa, D-Milwaukee, said she was “disgusted” by Krusick’s amendment, which would bar race from being considered in awarding Talent Incentive Program grants.
Those grants would provide up to $1,800 for academically and economically disadvantaged students to attend a Wisconsin college.
Krusick, D-Milwaukee, has frequently broken with the Dem caucus in the past, and her amendment prompted Dems to break for a three-hour caucus early Wednesday morning. One Dem source said members are so upset that it’s expected there will be discussions about what Krusick’s status with the caucus will be going forward.
