Southeastern Wisconsin will be rumbling this weekend as IndyCar racers and fans descend upon the Milwaukee Mile for the 2015 Milwaukee IndyFest.
The racing weekend is anchored by the 2015 ABC Supply Co. Inc. Wisconsin 250, presented by The Metro Milwaukee Honda Dealers. The race will be held at the Milwaukee Mile on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
Andretti Sports Marketing has organized Milwaukee IndyFest for the past four years.
The race is a favorite of Michael Andretti, owner and chief executive officer of Andretti Sports Marketing.
Andretti referred to the race as “a celebration of Milwaukee’s racing history and tradition.”
“It’s an event that brings the community together, which is what racing in Milwaukee is all about,” Andretti said in a press release.
Milwaukee IndyFest will offer fans a variety of family-friendly activities leading up to the race on Sunday. The weekend will kick off on Friday afternoon with a Racing for Kids” charity fun fair from 1 to 3 p.m. at the YMCA at Pabst Farms, located at 1750 Valley Road in Oconomowoc. During the fun fair, YMCA special program participants will have a chance to meet drivers Gabby Chaves and Simon Pagenaud, sit in the IndyFest showcar, and take on IndyCar drivers in a softball game.
Friday festivities will continue into the evening with a charity “Bartender Challenge” at 5 p.m. at Miller Time Pub, located at 509 W. Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Milwaukee. The challenge will feature drivers acting as celebrity bartenders – including Gabby Chaves, Stefano Coletti, Joseph Newgarden and Simon Pagenaud. Event proceeds will support the Racing for Kids organization.
New to the weekend lineup of events is a competitive cornhole tournament at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night, in which fans can compete against IndyCar teams.
Also on Saturday, vintage racers from the Harry Miller Club will offer ride-along opportunities to fans who purchase the “Harry Miller Charity Ride experience.” Vintage cars will cruise right on the Milwaukee Mile track. Proceeds from ride sales will also benefit Racing for Kids.
Additional highlights of the weekend include live music, freestyle motocross exhibitions, carnival rides and driver autograph sessions.
And as fans prepare for race time on Sunday, they will be able to tailgate along the track.
A variety of ticket packages are available for the race weekend, including general admission options, which cost $10 for adults and $5 for children both Saturday and Sunday.
The Milwaukee Mile is located at Wisconsin State Fair Park, 640 S. 84th Street in West Allis.
