U.S. Bank donates $611,000 to United Way of Greater Milwaukee

Minneapolis-based U.S. Bancorp announced that it donated more than $611,000 to United Way of Greater Milwaukee’s 2012 fundraising campaign through employee contributions and corporate gifts.

“U.S. Bank is committed to making a positive and lasting impact in the community,” said Bill Bertha, Milwaukee market president for U.S. Bank. “By supporting United Way of Greater Milwaukee, which partners with more than 80 local agencies, we are able to amplify that impact.”

United Way is the largest grant recipient and sole partner for U.S. Bank’s employee giving campaign. U.S. Bank raised more than $12.5 million companywide in 2012, including a 6.5 percent increase in employee contributions over the 2011 campaign. The contributions support more than 370 United Way affiliates across the country.

“Thanks to U.S. Bank for its continued support of United Way and for being part of the change to help build a stronger and more viable community,” said Mary Lou Young, president and CEO, United Way of Greater Milwaukee. “Their generosity makes it possible for United Way to invest in programs that support early childhood education, aid adults in obtaining their GED’s, and help to improve access to health care.”

U.S. Bank employees in southeastern Wisconsin raised funds for several other local United Way affiliates, including United Way of Kenosha County, United Way of Racine County, United Way of Walworth County, United Way of Waukesha County and United Way of Washington County.
