Zoomlion North America, a manufacturer of high-tech construction equipment used in the engineering and agricultural industries, has laid off 31 workers at its Yorkville facility, located at 14215 Two Mile Road.
The layoffs were caused by the business restructuring its operations, according to a WARN notice submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.
"We have shifted our business focus from research and design to sales," said the company in a statement. "We will be hiring to support this new business direction."
Zoomlion permanently laid off 31 employees. Those employees were given 60 days of pay in place of 60 days’ notice, according to the company. Due to the size of the company’s Yorkville facility, Zoomlion was not required to follow federal WARN Act guidelines.
Zoomlion North America’s parent company is Changsha, China-based Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd.
The company has locations in Australia, Africa, Europe, Russia, the Middle East and Asia. The Yorkville facility was first opened in 2013, and featured a research and development center for Zoomlion’s products.
