The Wisconsin Humane Society has been named one of 55 animal rescue organizations that received grant funding to participate in the ASPCA Mega Match-a-thon National Shelter Pet Adoption Event at the end of March. The 24-hour event will be held at the shelter’s Milwaukee location on March 31 through April 1. The event will run from 11 a.m. on Saturday until 11 a.m. on Sunday.
“We’ve never been open for a solid 24 hours before,” said Angela Speed, director of community relations and development. “It’s already been so much fun planning the games, activities and insomniac specials we’ll be offering that evening. Our goal is to find homes for 150 animals, and we’re grateful to the ASPCA for supporting this endeavor.”
The ASPCA has granted nearly $500,000 nationally to support large-scale adoption events held simultaneously nationwide in an effort to save more lives of shelter animals. The $10,000 grant for WHS will help pay for spay/neuter surgeries, microchipping, vaccinations, collars and marketing materials for the event.
