Called the Team Sailing Excursion, the training happens on board the S/V Denis Sullivan based in Milwaukee harbor, and is being billed as a unique hands-on environment for employees to experience the power of teamwork.

According to sailing excursion representative Tom Laughlin, manning the schooner is an example of business synergy at its best. "The boat cannot move forward without all members of the sailing team doing their jobs, just like any business large or small," said Laughlin.
Rochelle Behling, manager of COA, said, "Through our work with ropes courses and trust-building experiences, we have developed proven techniques that help a group of individuals become a productive, supportive team," Behling said. "We’re pleased to be able to provide businesses and organizations this new and extremely hands-on experience that truly demonstrates the power of teamwork."
The half-day or full-day experiences provide groups with insights on the importance of strategic planning, communicating, problem solving, goal setting, trust, leadership and individual roles and responsibilities, Behling said. Additional program development and assessment also are available through COA.
Behling noted that excursions can offer, at additional cost, temporary tattoos, sailor apparel, t-shirts and hats, situational actors and dinner picnics. Bookings for the 2002 season are now available, with dates beginning in spring and running through September.
