A start-up solar panel manufacturer that is developing a 40,000-square-foot production facility and U.S. headquarters in Milwaukee’s Menomonee Valley. The company expects to begin production early next year and will have 20 to 40 employees. It will have as many as 100 workers when it reaches full capacity.

Hands-On Garage

This do-it-yourself garage on Milwaukee’s north side has bays with hydraulic jacks that individuals can rent, along with tools, online manuals and a parts department. Hands-On Garage also features several mechanics that work as independent contractors and use the facility as their base of operations.

HarQen LLC

HarQuen specializes in software that captures, organizes and distributes voices in web-based applications. The Milwaukee company’s Voice Screener program, a phone-based job interview program, allows a company to review an applicant’s answers in four to five minutes instead of a traditional 30- to 40-minute telephone interview.

Innovative Sports Strategies

A Milwaukee-based sports information technology firm that developed a product called Elevation, a web-based financial service program designed for college athletic departments.

Spaulding Clinical Research

This West Bend firm specializes in clinical phase one cardiac trials of pharmaceuticals – the earliest stage of drug testing that makes sure that new drugs do not interfere with heart function. The company is based in the 200,000-square-foot former St. Joseph Community Hospital building, and recently occupied a fourth floor of the building.
