Oak Creek-based SURG Restaurant Group will pit Wisconsin’s top sports teams against one another this fall in the company’s first annual charitable ping pong competition.
The Ping Pong Challenge for Charity, scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 7, will place Green Bay Packers players on one side of the net and Milwaukee Brewers on the other in a friendly match to benefit the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
Confirmed players include Brewers players Ryan Braun, Jonathan Lucroy and Kyle Lohse and Packers player John Kuhn.
The evening will also include a Milwaukee Media Tournament, in which area media personnel will challenge one another on the ping pong table.
Event proceeds will help cover the medical bills of families undergoing treatment at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. A select number of tickets are available to the public at www.pingpongchallengeforcharity.com. Tickets cost $250 and include a VIP pass to watch the tournament, talk to players and enjoy an open bar and complimentary appetizers.
The event will also feature a live DJ and an auction with prizes and packages donated by Wisconsin sports icons.
SURG will hold the tournament at SURG on the Water, 102 N. Water St. in Milwaukee, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Sponsors and supporters of the inaugural event include Associated Bank, Kohl’s, Beer Capitol, Gruber Law Offices and Lammi Sports Management.
