Summerfest to give away 25,000 free tickets

Milwaukee World Festival Inc. will give away 25,000 tickets to fans during the first day of Summerfest on Wednesday, June 25.

The weekday admission tickets, worth a combined $275,000, will be handed to fans on the grounds at 5 p.m. when they smile at a participating Summerfest staff member and say “Let’s paint the town red!”

Each fan is eligible for one free ticket to The World’s Largest Music Festival. The giveaway will include horns and fireworks to celebrate the start of the festival.

There will also be opening ceremonies at 5 p.m. at the Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard stage.

Summerfest runs from June 25 to June 29 and July 1 to July 6. It will be closed on Monday, June 30. Click here for a list of ticket promotions and click here for the lineup of new acts for 2014.

Summerfest drew 840,356 patrons in 2013, an increase of 4.3 percent over 2012. Patrons traveled to Milwaukee from 49 other states and 40 countries.
