St. Marcus School earns mayor design award

Organizations:

St. Marcus Lutheran School was recently awarded the 2012 Mayor’s Design Award at a reception and presentation at the UWM School of Architecture and Urban Planning.

St. Marcus was selected for the award for Phase I of an ongoing expansion project, which added capacity for 348 additional students and opened in fall 2011.
Projects are selected for contributing to the character of their surroundings, adding value to their neighborhood, and strengthening the urban fabric.
The school is currently raising funds for Phase II of the project, which would add an additional 12,000 square feet of facilities critical to meeting the needs of more than 650 students, their families and the surrounding community.  As part of the $12 million expansion project, St. Marcus was awarded a $1 million challenge/matching grant from the M&I Foundation.  For every $2.50 committed to the project, the M&I Foundation will match $1.00, up to $1 million.
