The first residents will move into the 21-story tower expansion of Saint John’s on the Lake, a senior apartment complex, on Tuesday, July 5. An official opening ceremony will also be held that day for the tower, located at 1800 N. Prospect Ave. on Milwaukee’s East Side, which includes 87 residences and 25,000 square feet of common space. The expansion project will bring an additional 140 residents into the complex, according to Saint John’s on the Lake.
Pewaukee-based VJS Construction Services was the general contractor for the project. About 150 construction workers worked on the project daily, according to Saint John’s. Construction of the tower began in October of 2009.
Saint John’s sold $83 million in tax free municipal bonds to finance the project. The bonds were made available through the Wisconsin Health and Educational Facilities Authority. Saint John’s hired Ziegler Wealth Management, a division of B.C. Ziegler and Company, to handle the bond sale.
