SLIDE SHOW: Rogers Memorial Hospital’s Centennial Luncheon

Green Bay Packer legend Bart Starr and his wife, Cherry, recently spoke at Rogers Memorial Hospital’s Centennial Luncheon. Starr described the haunting details of his son Bret’s reoccurring battle and ultimate death caused by a chemical dependency. Starr was the person who found Bret 18 years ago after he had died of cardiac arrest due to cocaine use. “The coroner told us that Bret only had a minute trace of cocaine in his system when he died. You do not have to overdose to die. I never knew that," Starr said. Cherry, said, "Had resources such as Rogers been available to us, our son might be still alive today." Rogers Memorial Hospital is a nonprofit behavioral health care provider in Oconomowoc for children, adolescents, adults and older adults.
