In just five years, Menomonee Falls-based Connected Technology Solutions has gone from a company teetering on the brink of closure to being named one of the fastest-growing businesses in southeastern Wisconsin.

The leadership and vision of president and chief executive officer Sandra Nix is part of the reason the company has catapulted so successfully.

“The recession decimated our company,” she said. “Marketing budgets were slashed and many of our clients were sold or went bankrupt. We fought through though, and emerged better for it.”

CTS provides technology-powered displays and interactive kiosks for a variety of different industries, including health care, marketing and the quick service restaurant industry.

The company’s flagship product is the only front access kiosk in the health care industry.

“It sets the bar for the industry and is currently deployed in more health care systems nationally than all kiosk competitors combined,” Nix said.

More than 100 million patients have checked themselves in on a CTS kiosk, she said.

“I started a business that sells a product most companies don’t understand, and don’t know they need,” Nix said. “As we continue to grow, my challenge is to keep the culture that got us here intact. That’s the biggest focus of my day every day.”

Innovation is a key factor in the company’s success. CTS recently released two new products: a kiosk made with an antibacterial surface that prohibits the growth of any type of germs or bacteria; and a kiosk equipped with a UV light that cleans the kiosk screen when it’s not in use.

“We continue to innovate and provide the best value to our customers,” Nix said.
