A Sak’s Off 5th Avenue, the discount version of the upscale Sak’s Fifth Avenue department store chain, could be part of the Mayfair Collection project in Wauwatosa.
“It sounds ike the lease going through is pretty much imminent,” said Ross Koepsel, principal of Commercial Property Associates. The store will occupy about 24,000 square feet of space, he said.
Wauwatosa Mayor Kathy Ehley also said she was told that the store was considering the Mayfair Collection project.
The Mayfair Colleciton is a mixed-use development that is being built by Chicago-based HSA Commercial Real Estate at Highway 45 and Burleigh Road. In the project’s first phase, HSA Commercial will demolish a portion of the warehouse buildings fronting Highway 45 to create approximately 270,000 square feet of retail space and a corresponding parking field to serve retail customers.
Tenants in the first phase will include Nordstrom Rack, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Ulta Beauty.
Koepsel said an Old Navy store is also expected to be part of the project.
Another source said HSA is trying to get Whole Foods, which is looking for a location in the western suburbs.
A representative for HSA could not be reached for comment.
