S.C. Johnson buys former Diversey HQ for $27.6 million

Organizations:

Racine-based S.C. Johnson & Son Inc. recently closed on its purchase of the former Diversey Inc. corporate headquarters in Sturtevant for nearly $27.6 million, according to state records.

The 58-acre site at 8217 Washington Ave. includes a 277,000-square-foot office building.

Diversey, a sanitation solutions firm, was acquired in 2011 by Sealed Air Corp. Last year, Sealed Air announced that it would move its headquarters from New Jersey to Charlotte, N.C. As part of the headquarters relocation, Sealed Air will also move its 300 employees in Sturtevant to Charlotte.

Later in 2014, S.C. Johnson announced that it would purchase the former Diversey headquarters and lease it back to Sealed Air through 2015. It will then be modified for S.C. Johnson’s purposes. The company expects to move employees into the 277,000-square-foot office building in 2016.

The former Diversey headquarters is located across the street from S.C. Johnson’s 2.2 million-square-foot Waxdale manufacturing facility.
