Many of Milwaukee’s neighborhoods are plagued with disrepair. Rebuilding Together – Greater Milwaukee seeks out these neighborhoods and their residents to regain what once was.
Rebuilding Together provides year-round home repairs for low-income seniors, veterans, and persons with disabilities.
Since 2000, the organization has completed home updates for more than 800 homes with the help of more than 6,500 volunteers. It has invested more than $8 million into Milwaukee-area housing.
The organization provides carpentry, plumbing, electrical updates, accessibility modifications and safety improvements.
“I have served on the board for Rebuilding Together – Greater Milwaukee for six years, and have had the privilege to witness the life-changing work that (chief executive officer) Lynnea Katz-Petted and her staff are able to accomplish,” said Daniel Woods, vice president at Associated Bank.
The repairs are completed at no cost to the homeowner, and the organization also works to connect homeowners with other local resources like in-home care options and energy assistance programs.
