MMSD awards $844,000 for green projects that help protect Lake Michigan
The Metropolitan Milwaukee Sewerage District (MMSD) recently awarded grants for eight projects that will reduce stormwater runoff and help protect Lake Michigan. MMSD is spending $844,063 on the project. The grants require a 50 percent match from the award recipients. The grants are: $250,000 for a 30,000-square-foot green roof on the annex of Milwaukee Public Library central library, $159,000 for stormwater management in the Pabst brewery redevelopment, $145,000 for Milwaukee County Zoo rain gardens, $100,000 for Boerner Botanical Gardens stormwater recycling, $85,573 for a green roof for a building at the MillerCoors brewery, $48,000 for water absorbing pavement at the United Community Center, $35,350 for a rainwater collection project at Growing Power and $21,140 for green parking lots at the Fox Point Village Hall.

Muskego-based Callen Construction and Callen Design Group announced they will again serve as the presenting sponsor for the second annual “ReFashion for Life” benefiting CommonGround Ministry/Elena’s House. The benefit will be held Thurs., July 9, from 6 – 10 p.m. at the Callen Showroom and company grounds, S63 W13131 Janesville Road, in Muskego.
