During the protest referenced by Walker, several hundred people gathered near his suburban Milwaukee home chanting slogans such as "Hey, hey, ho, ho, Scott Walker’s got to go," and "Union busting is disgusting."
Erik Osse, a state employee who works at the Racine Correctional Institution, brushed off criticism that recall enthusiasts were wrong to target Walker’s residential area.
"It shows the disgust and how we feel about him. It has nothing to do with harassment," Osse said. "By doing it by his house, it makes it bigger because everybody gets in an uproar about it, and it draws more attention to it.”
At least 500 people showed up between 4 and 5 p.m. on the grounds of Juneau High School in Milwaukee, about four blocks from Walker’s home.
After hearing speakers denounce Walker and his budget initiatives, especially his dismantling of collective bargaining rights for public workers, attendees marched to Walker’s block, many carrying signs calling for his recall.
Volunteers mingled in the crowd, gathering signatures in support of the recall.
