In honor of the Pfister Hotel’s 120th anniversary, The Marcus Corporation, of Milwaukee, has released a first edition hardcover book titled “The History, Art & Imagery of The Pfister Hotel.”
The book, authored by Thomas Jordan and designed by Steve Biel, both from Milwaukee, takes readers on a historical and architectural tour of the Pfister Hotel, which dates back to 1893. With a collection of photographs by Milwaukee photographer Jay Filter, the book gives readers a glimpse of the downtown Milwaukee hotel’s ironwork railings and staircases, chandeliers, Victorian front desk and original paintings.
“This is a very special year for The Pfister and for all of us at The Marcus Corporation as our flagship hotel celebrates 120 years of providing legendary service and luxurious accommodations,” said Gregory Marcus, president and chief executive officer of The Marcus Corporation. “Our company has owned and maintained the hotel for 50 years, and for this and many more reasons, The Pfister holds a special place in my family’s history.”
“It has been an honor to maintain and enhance this historic treasure for three generations, and we are excited to share this one-of-a-kind keepsake book with our guests,” Marcus said.
The book was published by The Marcus Corporation and is registered with the Library of Congress.
Copies of the book are set in each of The Pfister’s guestrooms and are available for $49.95 at the hotel. Books can also be purchased online at www.amazon.com, in local Barnes and Noble stores and at Milwaukee’s Boswell Book Company.
Beyond Milwaukee, the commemorative books will be on display at more than 30 university libraries across the country as well as in art museums and public libraries.
