Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP, has promoted Amar Kothapalli to partner in its financial services industry team in Milwaukee. Kothapalli provides services for financial institutions, such as companies in insurance and asset management. His finance background also includes experience in internal audit, agreed-upon procedures and examination matters.

McGladrey LLP has welcomed Doug O’Connor to its Milwaukee office. O’Connor previously worked in the firm’s Schaumburg, Ill. location. O’Connor assists with audit and accounting services for clients in a spectrum of industries and has a special focus on managing financial statement audits of publicly and privately held companies.

Nicholas Banach has joined Milwaukee-based Komisar Brady & Co., LLP as a staff accountant.

Ron Sonntag Public Relations (RSPR), located in Milwaukee, has added Joe Clark as senior account executive and media relations specialist. Clark joins the company from the marketing department of Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Md. where he worked as a public relations specialist.

Architecture

Abacus Architects, Inc., based in Sheboygan, has welcomed Eric Halbur as a project manager. Halbur previously served as project designer at TWP Architecture in Elm Grove. He has also served as an Architectural Review Board member and planning commissioner for the Town of Brookfield. In his new role, Halbur will work on Revit/BIM software and contribute to the design and management of company projects.

Schroeder and Holt Architects, headquartered in Milwaukee, has hired Steven Esser as an architect and project manager. Esser joins Schroeder and Holt Architects after 10 years at Welman Architects in Waukesha. He brings experience in multi-family housing, commercial developments, historic preservation and mixed use architecture.

Banking & Finance

Doug Hipple has joined Milwaukee-based Bank Mutual as a commercial banking representative. Hipple has industry experience in cost analysis, tax credit research and financial modeling. He will work at the bank branch located at 2600 N. Mayfair Rd. in Wauwatosa. Bank Mutual also recently hired Patrick Lawton as senior vice president/director of investment real estate lending. In this role, Lawton will focus on the bank’s investment real estate division. He will be located at 400 N. Moorland Rd., Ste. 202 in Brookfield.

Building & Construction

Brookfield-based Briohn Building Corporation has named Gregg Thompson president of its construction operations. Thompson has 33 years of experience in the construction industry including 10 years as president and chief executive officer of Bukacek Construction in Racine. He has worked on projects for retail, grocery, industrial, food processing and commercial offices. In his new role, he will oversee construction operations and expand the company’s services to Racine and Kenosha.

Building Maintenance

Andy Voelker has rejoined the staff of Protech, of Milwaukee. Voelker will work as the company’s business development manager and will focus on facilitating policy and procedures for staff members. He will also seek out new business opportunities and enhance relationships with existing clients to add to the company’s customer service efforts. Protech is a subsidiary company of Inland Companies.

Consulting

GMR Marketing, based in New Berlin, has promoted Joe Sutter to chief creative officer and Bryan Rasch to chief digital officer. Both will be located at the company’s headquarters.

Education

Alverno College, located in Milwaukee, has promoted Kate Lundeen to vice president for enrollment services. Lundeen has worked for Alverno College since November 2011 when she was hired as the director for undergraduate recruitment and admissions. She most recently served as executive director of enrollment at the college. In her new position, she will lead the college’s Admissions Department and academic recruitment initiatives. She will also manage admissions communications, strategic long-range planning, and operations of the Financial Aid department.

Gov. Scott Walker recently named Margaret Farrow, Janice Mueller and Joshua Inglett to the University of Wisconsin (UW) System Board of Regents. Farrow and Mueller, both citizen members, will serve seven-year terms. Inglett, a student member, will serve a two-year term on the board.

Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW), located in Mequon, has named Eric Schad digital and social media manager in the school’s marketing department. Schad previously served as a Web marketing assistant at Ellsworth Adhesives in Germantown. In his new role, he will oversee the university’s social media accounts and contribute to its digital marketing campaigns.

Engineering

Milwaukee-based GRAEF has announced newly elected associates: Chris Bielefeld, a professional and structural engineer; David Koslo, a land surveyor in the company’s Milwaukee Field Services Group; and Jacquelyn Messer, a professional engineer in Graef’s Milwaukee Transportation Group.

Environmental

Logical Green Solutions, of Waukesha, has hired Aaron Walton as an LED sales engineer. In her new position, Walton will teach clients about benefits of LED lighting including ways it can save them energy and money as well as ways it cuts down on waste. In addition to having certification as an energy manager in training with the Association of Energy Engineers, Walton has been designated a LEED green associate with the United States Green Building Council and an engineer in training with the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying.

Government Organizations

John Dargle has been appointed Milwaukee County parks director. Dargle is a certified park and recreation professional and most recently led the Fairfax County Park Authority, a park system in Fairfax County, Va.

Health Care

Dr. Taylor Poehls, of the Chiropractic Company’s Brookfield office, is now a member of the Foundation for Wellness Professionals, a national association comprised of health care experts who donate their time toward disease prevention and community health efforts. In being part of the association, Poehls will conduct area health and wellness workshops for businesses and organizations looking to strengthen community health.

BloodCenter of Wisconsin, based in Wauwatosa, has named Dr. Barbara Bryant vice president, transfusion medicine, at the organization’s Medical Sciences Institute (MSI). In this role, she will focus on streamlining and optimizing transfusion medicine services at BloodCenter’s 56 partner hospitals. She will work to improve clinical transfusion practice and research as well. BloodCenter also recently appointed Dr. Matthew Anderson medical director, diagnostic laboratories. Among his focuses will be a collaborative initiative with diagnostic laboratory directors to establish clear research and development needs and goals.

Hospitality & Entertainment

Amanda Albrecht has joined National Bakery & Deli, of Milwaukee, as business development consultant and marketing manager. In this newly-created position, Albrecht will be responsible for operating marketing campaigns and monitoring the company’s social media accounts. She will also assist with development of existing and future retail locations and will network with other area businesses.

Legal Services

Michael Best & Friedrich LLP recently expanded its Milwaukee staff with the appointment of Sarah Ehrhardt and Melanie Reichenberger. Ehrhardt will serve as a partner in the Wealth Planning Practice Group and will cover all elements of estate and business succession planning. Reichenberger will serve as a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group and will devote much of her attention to patent litigation. She will also deal with intellectual property risks and assets as well as work with clients impacted by intellectual property disputes.

Godfrey & Kahn, S.C., headquartered in Milwaukee, has appointed shareholder Lecia Johnson chair of its Women’s Leadership Forum. Johnson also serves on the firm’s Tax & Employee Benefits Practice Group. The Women’s Leadership forum, established in 2010, offers the firm’s female lawyers an outlet to exchange ideas about leadership, networking, professional development and more.

Hansen Reynolds Dickinson Crueger LLC (HRDC), headquartered in Milwaukee, recently added five attorneys: Don Jacquart, Paul Jacquart, Jeremy Adelson, John Shanahan and James Barton. The firm has also hired Kristin Smith as a paralegal.

Buelow Vetter Buikema Olson & Vliet, LLC, based in Waukesha, has named Joel Aziere president. Aziere brings more than 16 years of legal experience in both public and private sectors to his new leadership position. The firm has also hired Suzanne Glisch and Alana Leffler to its legal team. Glisch will focus her practice on labor and employment law for both public and private sectors, and Leffler will concentrate on school law as well as on employee benefits issues.

Media

Sinclair Broadcast Group has appointed Terry Gaughan general manager of WCGV-TV and WVTV-TV in Milwaukee. Gaughan begins his new position after nearly 10 years as vice president of national sales at Univision.

Nonprofit

The YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee has appointed Julie Tolan president and chief executive officer. Tolan, who will take over leadership in August, represents the first female to fill the CEO position at the nonprofit organization. Tolan’s professional

background includes serving as president of JA Tolan & Associates, working as vice president of University Advancement at Marquette University, and serving as president of the United Performing Arts Fund (UPAF) in Milwaukee.

Real Estate

Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage has welcomed real estate agent Karen Anderson to its Metro West office in Brookfield.

Dan Klister has joined the tenant representation team of Mid-America Real Estate Wisconsin, L.L.C.’s Milwaukee office. Klister, a broker associate, will be responsible for tenant representation of national and regional retailers in their site selections throughout Wisconsin.

Wangard Partners, of Milwaukee, has hired Jennifer Devitt as corporate counsel. Devitt joins the firm with professional experience in commercial real estate transactions, such as leasing, financing and acquisitions. As corporate counsel, she will oversee a number of legal tasks involving real estate contracts, leases, development agreements, finance, letters of credit, promissory notes and recourse issues. Her responsibilities will also include advising development teams on legal issues as well as being the primary liaison between in-house business staff, development units and exterior counsel.
