Wegner CPAs, Pewaukee, has hired Jon Keller to the assurance department. Keller has about 10 years of experience in public accounting, and he specializes in financial and compliance audits for governmental entities, nonprofit entities and employee benefit plans.

Baker Tilly Virchow Krause LLP has promoted Wayne Morgan to office managing partner, a newly created position, in the Milwaukee office. Morgan has worked for Baker Tilly for 15 years, providing accounting and advisory expertise to clients in industries like manufacturing, wholesale/distribution, retail and professional services. Morgan has also fulfilled leadership roles in firm risk/quality, people initiatives and career development.

Trefoil Group, Milwaukee, has appointed Nancy Woltzen director of strategy and planning. In her new position, Woltzen will manage efforts in branding, strategy development and marketing communications planning and will serve the company’s clients in professional services, manufacturing, technology, health care and finance. She comes to the Trefoil Group from Versant, also in Milwaukee, where she was vice president.

Arthur (Art) Thompson has been appointed senior vice president and chief financial and chief risk officer for ISB Community Bank, based in Ixonia. Thompson has more than 25 years of senior financial leadership experience. Previously he served as executive vice president and chief financial and chief operations officer for Southport Bank.

Port Washington State Bank has named Mary Karnitz vice president and branch manager of the bank’s Grafton location. Karnitz has 14 years of management experience and 20 years of experience in business banking. Prior to her new position, she worked for Wells Fargo Capital Finance in Milwaukee.

Associated Bank has added three new staff members in Milwaukee. Ann Wenninger Gehring has been named senior vice president, managing senior counsel, and will head the retail banking legal team. Mary Coleman has been appointed senior vice president, operations and technology audit director, and will oversee the bank’s operations and information technology audits. Alicia Holcomb has joined the bank as senior vice president, corporate risk fiduciary, investment and non-bank process manager. Holcomb will help develop policies and practices for measuring and managing risk in market, interest rate and fiduciary.

Bank Mutual has named Marie Angelier assistant vice president and bank office manager for its Mequon location. Angelier has 20 years of banking experience. In her new role, she will manage overall operations and sales at the Mequon bank.

Education

Concordia University Wisconsin, located in Mequon, has named Rev. Dr. David Birner executive director of international education in its Office of International Student Services. Birner will begin his new position in February and will work with the university’s deans and program directors to expand the university’s global offerings. Prior to his new role, Birner led the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod World Mission International Program in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eurasia.

Engineering

R.A. Smith National, Brookfield, has added Benjie Hayek as a construction services project leader. Hayek has more than 24 years of experience in road building construction projects for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and local government. She has focused on new construction and resurfacing projects in the region.

Health Care

Dr. Joshua Kovach has joined the staff at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Wauwatosa, as an assistant professor of pediatrics (cardiology). Kovach also consults patients at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Wauwatosa. He focuses on arrhythmia management in pediatric and congenital heart disease, inherited arrhythmia disorders and pediatric pacemaker and defibrillator therapy.

Industrial

Actuant Corp., Menomonee Falls, has promoted Brian Kobylinski to executive vice president, industrial segment and China. Kobylinski has worked for Actuant for 20 years. His new role was recently created to devote more attention to the growth of the industrial segment and China growth strategies for the company. Actuant also appointed Sheri Roberts-Updike as executive vice president, energy segment. Roberts-Updike previously served in leadership roles for Tyco International and has 20 additional years of experience with Royal Dutch Shell.

Scott Teerlinck has been appointed president of Werner Electric Supply in Neenah. He previously worked at Milwaukee-based Rockwell Automation Inc., where he fulfilled a series of sales and management positions.

Insurance

Assurant Health, Milwaukee, has promoted Michelle Pierce to vice president, managing attorney. In her new position, Pierce will take over all aspects of legal support of Assurant’s health insurance products for consumers and small businesses.

Burkwald & Associates, Pewaukee, has hired Chad Robinson as a benefit analyst. Robinson has eight years of experience in the employee benefits industry. The company also recently hired Ricki Warning as a communications coordinator.

Legal Services

Godfrey & Kahn, S.C., Milwaukee, has added 10 attorney associates to its Business Finance & Restructuring, Corporate, Labor & Employment, Litigation, Real Estate and Securities Practice Groups. The new attorneys are: Thomas Bausch, Nina Beck, Kerry Gabrielson, Rebecca Lopez, Michael Mather, Shannon Pitsch, Robert Shepard, Danny Tang, Jennifer Vandermeuse and Adam Ziebell. The law firm also recently hired three new shareholders. Paul Heaton and Maria Kreiter will serve as shareholders in the Litigation Practice Group. John Reichert will serve as a shareholder in the Banking & Financial Institutions Practice Group.

Cross Law Firm S.C., Milwaukee, has promoted Katherine Gaumond to employment and whistleblower attorney. Gaumond specializes in employment discrimination and retaliation claims. The firm has also hired Janice Pintar to its staff of attorneys litigating plaintiffs’ employment and civil rights claims. Pintar focuses on employment discrimination claims, wage and hour, and wrongful and retaliatory discharge claims.

Meissner Tierney Fisher & Nichols S.C., Milwaukee, has hired Mark Malloy as a shareholder. Malloy focuses on commercial litigation, primarily in insurance coverage, professional liability and toxic tort. The firm has also added Jennifer Kreil as a shareholder. Kreil specializes in complex business and civil litigation.

Manufacturing

Steele Solutions Inc., Franklin, has named Roberta Gorzek marketing manager. Gorzek has 14 years of corporate and agency marketing experience with seven years of experience in the material handling industry.

Nonprofit

Sojourner Family Peace Center, Milwaukee, has appointed Mark Thomas to associate director. In this leadership role, Thomas will oversee the shelter, family advocacy services and systems-based programs as well as community education activities. He will also be a liaison with other area organizations. He has more than 30 years of newspaper experience and has served in senior-level positions at other area nonprofit organizations.

Mary Haynor, president and chief executive officer of Brown Deer-based Horizon Home Care & Hospice, has been elected secretary of the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) for 2013 and 2014. Haynor first served as an NAHC board member from 2008 to 2011 and has led Horizon since 1999.

Real Estate

Mid-America Real Estate-Wisconsin, Milwaukee, has promoted Teresa Shemitis to vice president of the property representation team. Shemitis has worked for Mid-America as a broker associate since 2004. In her new position, she will lease and market retail properties. She will also be responsible for working with clients on the representation and sale of retail properties for owners and developers and will assist property management with budgets and reports.

Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage has added real estate agent Mark Freiberg to its Mequon office. Freiberg has more than 30 years of experience in sales and marketing. The real estate brokerage company has also added real estate agent Kathy Huffman to its West Bend office.

CSA Commercial, a commercial real estate brokerage, investment and development firm with offices in Milwaukee and Sheboygan has hired Brian Taffora as a vice president. Taffora previously served as director of economic development of Milwaukee County.
