Grant Thornton LLP, recently promoted five individuals in its Milwaukee office. In audit practice, Laura Geist and Chris Sterr were promoted to manager positions, and Jake Dietzler and Ali Hinkle were promoted to senior associate. In its tax practice, Dan Huybers was promoted from senior associate to manager.

RitzHolman CPAs, Milwaukee, promoted Missy Barkelar to marketing manager. Barkelar oversees RitzHolman CPAs’ marketing and business development training programs and web site presence.

Banking & Finance

First Business Bank, Milwaukee, announced that Dennis Sampson accepted the position of senior vice president. He has more than 21 years of commercial banking experience, focusing on owner-managed businesses in manufacturing, real estate development, and construction.

First Bank Financial Centre, Oconomowoc, added Craig Kouba as vice president of home loan sales and operations. Gary Sherwin was also promoted to vice president, cash management. He has been with the firm for seven years and has over 25 years of experience in the banking industry.

Child Care Services

Ebenezer Child Care Centers has named Lisa Lenyard the center coordinator for its new Mequon Center.


Marge Combe, consultant with Vernal Management Consultants, LLC, Milwaukee has been appointed as the chair of the advisory council for the College of Professional Studies at Marquette University.


Darren Jackson, president and chief executive of Advance Auto Parts, was elected chair of the Marquette University Board of Trustees. He succeeds Mary Ellen Stanek, managing director and director of asset management at Robert W. Baird & Company, who served as chair for three years.

Dr. Helen Sobehart, president of Cardinal Stritch University, will serve on the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors. She will serve a three-year term beginning this month.

Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, Milwaukee, added Doug Braun, executive vice president of services for Americas at RedPrairie to the school’s Board of Directors.

Health Care

Brent Phillips, a senior executive at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., has accepted the position of chief operating officer of Aurora Medical Group, Milwaukee. Phillips will oversee all operational functions of the 960-physician medical group. Aurora Health Care has also named Michael Lappin, the chair of the corporate services practice group and a member of the executive committee at Quarles & Brady, as its vice president and general counsel.

Dr. Mark Aasen, a board-certified pain management physician and anesthesiologist, has joined the physicians of Advanced Pain Management. Dr. Aasen will be seeing patients at locations throughout the greater Milwaukee area.

Dr. Nick Turkal, president and CEO of Aurora Health Care, Milwaukee, has been selected by the WHA Nominating Committee to serve as WHA’s chair-elect in 2010 and chair in 2011.

Hospitality & Entertainment

Sundance Vacations named Sean Agnew as sales director of the Brookfield sales division. Agnew was previously employed at the Downers Grove, Ill. Sundance Vacations sales office and has been employed by the wholesale travel company since 2005.

Human Resources & Development

Pinstripe, Inc., Milwaukee, announced the addition of Bonnie Vivian to its board of directors. Vivian has experience in sales, marketing and operations.


Acuity, Sheboygan, announced the following promotions within its firm: Jennifer Hamacher was promoted to senior commercial field underwriter, and Jason Heidl, Robert Nienhuis and Kyle Peterson have each been promoted to senior commercial underwriter at the company’s corporate headquarters.

Legal Services

The personal injury law firm of Pitman, Kyle & Sicula, S.C., Milwaukee, recently announced that Gail Brown and Terese Halfmann have joined the firm. Brown and Halfmann are both nurse attorneys – licensed Wisconsin attorneys and registered nurses – and are on the firm’s nursing home abuse team.

DeWitt Ross & Stevens S.C. added Olivia Kelley to the litigation, business and tax groups in its Brookfield office.


Sartori Foods, added Jeff Schwager as its new president. He has more than 20 years of experience at Rite Hite. Chad Vincent was also added as the chief marketing officer.

Media, announced the addition of Kurt Beneker as senior sales executive. Beneker previously worked at as an account executive. John Hyland was also promoted to manager of client relations, and Caroline McDonald was promoted to manager of sales development.


United Way of Greater Milwaukee added several “loaned executives” to support its 2009 community campaign. They include: John Andrekopoulos, sponsored by Johnson Controls; Andy DeLeon, UPS; Gretchen Foltz, Marshall & Ilsley Corp.; Alison Godar, Curative Care Network; Amanda Heiring, Milwaukee Christian Center; Jennifer Morrison, Wisconsin Energy Corp.; Duane Wilson, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee; and Richard Wruk, City of Milwaukee Department of Water Works. United Way’s “loaned executives” support more than 1,300 corporations that run workplace giving campaigns.

Real Estate

Inland Companies, Milwaukee, hired Joe Eldredge as a sales associate for their brokerage department. He has more than 15 years of experience in residential and commercial real estate with a strong background in sales, marketing, development and acquisition.

NAI MLG Commercial welcomed back Rachel Quest-Schmidt as the vice president of its Brookfield brokerage team.

Senior Living Communities

Extendicare Health Services, Inc., Milwaukee, announced that Ray Freson was hired as the new executive director for Lake Country Landing, its newest assisted living residence.
