Payne named new chairman of MMAC

The Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce recently celebrated its 150th anniversary at its bi-annual all member meeting held at Miller Park. Ulice Payne, president and chief executive officer of Brookfield-based Addison Clifton LLC was named chairman of the organization.
Addison Clifton specializes in global trade compliance advisory services for its clients.
Payne previously co-chaired MMAC’s China Business Council and currently serves on the board of directors at Manpower Group, Northwestern Mutual Life, Wisconsin Energy Corporation and is the chair of the national board of directors for the YMCA. Payne will take over for Tim Sullivan, former president and chief executive officer of Bucyrus International, Inc., who has served as chairman since 2009.
Mary Schiebel, founder and principal owner of Milwaukee-based Schiebel-Halaska was also officially named chair of the MMAC’s Council of Small Business Executives, (COSBE).
COSBE, which is led by CEOs from a diverse group of manufacturers and service companies throughout the four-county area, was established in 1986 to recognize and advance the vast contributions of small businesses in the region.
Governor Scott Walker was also present at the event to announce Canadian-based company Paul Davis National has decided to locate its headquarters, training facility and 100 jobs in Milwaukee, just east of Interstate 94 at 2000 S. Fourth St. near Beecher St.
According to Walker, the firm will make a capital investment of $10 million in equipment and a new headquarters building.
The decision was announced today by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Paul Davis National chief executive officer Dan Druml.
“I want to congratulate Dan and thank him for his decision to locate his company’s headquarters and training facility in Milwaukee,” Walker said. “Entrepreneurs and small businesses like Dan’s will help drive our recovery, and if we can work together to help them succeed, we will see our economy add more jobs.”
Paul Davis Restoration is a series of local franchises owned by The Franchise Company out of Toronto, Canada.  Paul Davis provides insurance and disaster recovery services, including construction, restoration and stabilization, data and record recovery and equipment restoration.
Nearly 1600 business executives and members of the MMAC attended the event held on the field at Miller Park. The event commemorated the Association’s milestone 150th anniversary and presented a ground-breaking agenda for the region’s future prosperity.
According to the MMAC’s Blueprint for Prosperity, the organization’s top priority will be to address education and the talent shortage for local manufacturers in particular.
Other goals addressed in the Blueprint included fostering a healthy business climate, and leveraging the Milwaukee region’s natural assets to grow the local economy.
