Palermo’s to expand Easter meal donations

Palermo’s Pizza is partnering with Hunger Task Force to expand Easter Baskets for the Hungry on the program’s fifth anniversary.

On Wednesday, April 4, Palermo’s employees and volunteers will assemble and provide Easter baskets of food to 1,500 local families who could not otherwise enjoy a traditional holiday meal.
This year’s initiative, which will benefit 50 percent more families than last year’s program, will take place inside the Wisconsin Products Pavilion at Wisconsin State Fair Park. The program has outgrown its previous location at the Hunger Task Force warehouse.
Each Easter basket will contain 40 pounds of food – a week’s worth of family dinners – including holiday favorites such as ham, potatoes and corn. The fifth annual program will mark Palermo’s total donation of approximately 180,000 pounds of food to community families since 2008.
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and County Executive Chris Abele will be on hand to help volunteers celebrate Palermo’s annual charitable tradition.
