The plans for an Olive Garden restaurant in Germantown call into question the future of the Olive Garden restaurant at 8531 Brown Deer Road in Milwaukee. The Germantown site is only 6.5 miles west of the Brown Deer Road Olive Garden location, which is near the vacant former Northridge Mall. Several retail businesses have left the Brown Deer Road corridor since Northridge Mall closed in 2003.
The other Olive Garden locations in southeastern Wisconsin are located in Brookfield, Greenfield, Racine and Pleasant Prairie. The Brookfield and Greenfield restaurants are located 13 miles apart and the Racine and Pleasant Prairie locations are located 12 miles apart.
Olive Garden has been considering locations west and east of the Brown Deer Road restaurant for a new restaurant, said Jason Greggs, general manager of the Brown Deer Road Olive Garden. Greggs said he does not know if the Germantown Olive Garden will be an additional location or a relocation of the Brown Deer Road location.
“Olive Garden continues to grow, so our real estate teams are constantly looking for new sites across the country,” said Olive Garden spokeswoman Tara Gray. “We do not comment on any specific restaurant plans until a project has received all the necessary approvals. I can tell you there are no plans to close any Olive Garden restaurants in the Milwaukee area at this time.”
