Northwestern Mutual’s 2020 annual meeting moved back to accommodate DNC

Will be held in August

Northwestern Mutual’s annual meeting, a multi-day gathering of the company’s financial advisors in downtown Milwaukee, will be pushed back to later in the summer of 2020, a scheduling change prompted by the Democratic National Convention.

The Milwaukee-based life insurance company has set its 2020 Annual Meeting of the Association of Agents for Aug. 10-12, 2020 at Fiserv Forum.

The annual event draws about 12,000 people to the city’s downtown, traditionally during the third or fourth week of July, and has an annual estimated local economic impact of $12.9 million.

The DNC will run from July 13-16, 2020 at Fiserv Forum, with approximately 1,500 related events expected to be held at venues throughout the city. The convention is anticipated to attract about 50,000 visitors to the city and generate an estimated $200 million economic impact to the area.

Northwestern Mutual’s annual meeting includes educational sessions, networking events, an annual run/walk along the lakefront and a private concert for the company’s employees and financial advisors. Events are held at Fiserv Forum and the Wisconsin Center. The company’s financial advisors and their family members occupied about 13,800 hotel room nights during the company’s 2018 annual meeting, according to VISIT Milwaukee.

“We’re grateful to the many organizations in Milwaukee, such as Fiserv Forum and Visit Milwaukee, that have worked closely with us to confirm these dates. Their flexibility has been greatly appreciated,” said spokeswoman Betsy Hoylman.
