The North Face Apparel Corp., the St. Laurent, Canada-based subsidiary of Greensboro, N.C.-based V.F. Corp., is considering the Milwaukee area for a new retail store, but nothing is imminent, said CB Richard Ellis broker Josh Minkin, who represents The North Face in the Milwaukee area. The North Face was on a list of retailers that may be coming to the area that was distributed by Mid-America Real Estate broker Tony Colvin at the Commerical Real Estate Roundtable Forum, sponsored by the Commercial Association of Realtors Wisconsin, on Tuesday at the Italian Community Center.

Minkin said The North Face has considered opening a store in the Milwaukee area for about four years. "They like Milwaukee, they see a lot of people wearing their gear here," Minkin said. The North Face has a store at Hilldale Mall in Madison, but has no immediate plans to open a store in the Milwaukee area. Still the Milwaukee area remains in consideration by The North Face, he said. "There’s a lot of retailers that come through town," Minkin said. "Some of them never (open a store here). Others do several years later."
