Sign up to run with the Racing Sausages
The Brewers Community Foundation is accepting applications for the 14th annual 5K Famous Racing Sausages Run/Walk. The race will be held at Miller Park on Saturday, July 28.
Participants in the race will test their skills against the famous racing sausages in the race that will begin and end at Klement’s Sausage Haus. Brewers first base coach Ed Sedar will be the celebrity starter for the event.
Cost to attend is $30 per person and includes a commemorative t-shirt, a Terrace Reserved ticket voucher, a bottle of water, a Klement’s hot dog and a beer for those 21 and older.
The overall top male finisher and the overall top female finisher will also receive a year’s worth of Klement’s meat products.
Participants and fans can also help raise additional funds to benefit Fisher House Wisconsin. Fundraising is only available online through July 29 by going to brewers.com/5kfundraising, The grand prize for the top fundraiser over $5,000 is an autographed Ryan Braun baseball and a Time Warner Cable One-Year Bundled Package. Fisher House provides a “home away from home” for military and veterans’ families to be close to a loved one during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee.

BizTimes seeks nominations for bold organizations and leaders
BizTimes Media is seeking nominations for its 2012 Bravo! Entrepreneur Awards and IQ (Innovation Quotient) Awards.
The Bravo! Entrepreneur Awards salute bold and innovative company leaders. To be considered for the awards, nominees should demonstrate the best traits of entrepreneurship; include a willingness to take risk, drive, perseverance and innovation.
The IQ Awards salute companies for their innovations in their products or services. Judges will choose the most innovative, clever and unique products, services or processes among the companies nominated.
Self nominations are welcomed. Nominees for the Bravo! Entrepreneur and IQ Awards must be based in Wisconsin and have a physical presence in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee, Washington, Sheboygan, Racine, Walworth or Kenosha County.
Nominations are due by March 23.
Past recipients of the Bravo! Entrepreneur Lifetime Achievement Award have included Fritz and Debra Usinger of the Usinger family, Stephen Marcus of The Marcus Corp., George Dalton of Fiserv Inc., Robert Kern of Generac and Harry Quadracci of Quad/Graphics Inc.
The winners of the 2012 awards will be presented at the Bravo!/IQ Awards Breakfast at BizExpo on May 17.

Community Shares of Greater Milwaukee accepts award nomination
Community Shares of Greater Milwaukee is now accepting nominations for the 2012 Commitnment to Justice Awards.  For the past 22 years, Community Shares of Greater Milwaukee has honored outstanding humanitarian leaders who have made notable contributions to build a more just, caring and healthy community for people and animals. 
The awards include:

  • Lifelong Commitment to Justice Award – Social Justice Category
    Nominees have contributed to social justice and improved quality of life in Greater Milwaukee over a period of 10 years or more.
  • Lifelong Commitment to Justice Award – Animal Welfare Category
    Nominees have contributed to improved quality of life for animals in Greater Milwaukee over a period of 10 years or more.
  • Lifelong Commitment to Justice Award – Environment Category
    Nominees have contributed to improved environmental quality in Greater Milwaukee over a period of 10 years or more.
  • Future of Change Award
    Nominees are under the age of 30 and have demonstrated initiative and leadership in a significant action that contributed to justice, equality, or in some other way significantly improved quality of life for others in Greater Milwaukee.
  • A. David Schwartz Business Humanitarian Award
    Nominees have used his or her position in a for-profit business in Greater Milwaukee as a means of improving social justice or the environment locally.
  • President’s Award
    Nominees for this award is an employee or a volunteer with a Community Shares of Greater Milwaukee member organization who has made significant contributions to the advancement of social or environmental justice in Greater Milwaukee.
