Curtis ambulance delivers holiday cheer
Jim Baker, president of Curtis Ambulance and his team will once again pack an ambulance full of Christmas trees and deliver them to local churches and shelters on Friday, Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Baker has made the delivery an annual holiday tradition. Organizations receiving trees this year include: Milwaukee Rescue Mission, St. Ben’s Church, St. Mary’s Church, St. Casmir Church, St. Josaphat Basilica, Casa Maria Homeless Shelter, St. Luke Emanuel Baptist and St. Michael’s Church.

Waukesha United Way accepts Inspire by Example nominations
United Way in Waukesha County has announced it is currently accepting nominations for its annual “Inspire by Example” volunteer awards. Individuals or groups recognized with these awards have performed outstanding volunteer service within Waukesha County in the past year. The nomination deadline is Friday, January 27, 2012.
Categories available for award winners include Volunteer of the Year, Youth Volunteer of the Year, Group Volunteers of the Year and Business Partner of the Year. A panel of independent community leaders will review all nominations and select one winner in each category. Winners will be awarded $500 to give to the nonprofit of their choice and will be honored at a recognition luncheon held on Tuesday, April 17.

Communications firm to offer free media training for nonprofits
Milwaukee-based Haig/Jackson Communications has agreed to offer four free media training or presentation skills training seminars for eligible nonprofit organizations in 2012.
Former Milwaukee journalists Barbara Haig and Jeff Jackson have delivered these seminars to individuals and organizations since 1995.
