Organic grocery store Good Harvest Market plans to build a new 23,000-square-foot store about a quarter mile west of its existing 12,000-square-foot store at 1850 Meadow Lane in Waukesha.

Good Harvest recently acquired 23 acres for the project. The new grocery store will be built on 6 acres of the property and the remaining 17 acres will remain in wetlands conservancy. Two of the six buildable acres could be used for retail or residential development in the future.

The existing Good Harvest Market store, its only location, opened in 2005. It is in the final year of its lease there and needs more space. Good Harvest, which currently has 50 employees, plans to increase employment by 40 to 50 percent at the larger store. The new store will also be able to triple the amount of available seating, including outdoor seating, for the Harvest Café, which will overlook the land conservancy.
