Schoenck Containers Inc., a New Berlin-based manufacturer of plastic containers, recently leased 225,000 square feet of space in the Burleigh Triangle area in Wauwatosa to provide it with additional warehousing space.
Schoenck is leasing the space from Chicago-based HSA Commercial Real Estate, which plans to redevelop part of the property, formerly used by Roundy’s Supermarkets Inc. as a distribution center, into a 250,000-square-foot shopping center. Additional retail space is planned in future phases of the project. Some of the existing distribution center space on the 69-acre property will be demolished.
Schoenck needs the space because it is out of room for warehouse space at its New Berlin headquarters at 2160 S. 170th St.
“They’re growing like a weed,” said Adam Matson of NAI MLG Commercial. He and Barry Chavin of NAI MLG Commercial brokered the deal for HSA. David Hazenfield of The Dickman Company brokered the deal for Schoenck Containers.
Executives with Schoenck Containers could not be reached for comment.
Schoenck Containers was founded in 1972 in a 23,000-square-foot space that has been expanded several times to about 172,000 square feet, according to the company’s web site.
