Learn more about:

Ryan Murray, deputy secretary and chief operating officer of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, has announced his resignation from the organization.

Murray, who was named deputy secretary in July 2012, will leave WEDC at the end of November to pursue an unspecified opportunity in the private sector.

“WEDC has made significant strides in accountability and transparency, and Ryan has been instrumental in moving the agency forward in both areas over the last two years,” said Reed Hall, secretary and chief executive officer of WEDC. “We wish Ryan the best in his future endeavors.”

The tenure of Murray, a former deputy chief of staff of Gov. Scott Walker, has been controversial since his appointment to the WEDC. WEDC vice president Lee Swindall resigned because of disagreements with Murray in August. However, Swindall was convinced to return to his post three days later by Hall.
