More hotel, retail development for Rawson Avenue

Ed Eldridge, the owner of People’s Choice Corp. car wash at 7700 W. Rawson Ave., plans to build a five-story, 99-room hotel with 1,600 to 2,500 square feet of meeting space, on a vacant site just north of a gas station at the northwest corner of South 76th Street and Rawson Avenue in Franklin. The flag for the $11 million hotel has not been named yet. The project is being reviewed by city officials. It would be the second new hotel for Franklin. A 114-room Staybridge Suites hotel is under construction at the southwest corner of South 27th Street and Ryan Road.

The 76th Street and Rawson Avenue area is just south of Loomis Road. The area is beginning to attract more development. Rawson LLC plans to build a 28,500-square-foot addition to the Franklin Centre shopping center, located southwest of South 76th Street and Rawson Avenue, which would include an OfficeMax store.

Meanwhile, the Fountains of Franklin retail development at South 51st Street and Rawson Avenue is attracting more retail tenants.

Azana Salon & Spa, located at 200 N. Moorland Road in Brookfield, plans to add a second location in the Fountains of Franklin development. The Franklin Azana Salon & Spa will be in a two-story, 11,450-square-foot building. By comparison, the Brookfield Azana is about 9,000 square feet.

Construction for a 21,600-square-foot building, which will include the Fountains of Franklin Azana, a cosmetic surgeon’s office, a 3,200-square-foot Snap Fitness center and an upscale tanning boutique, is expected to begin this spring and be complete in November.

Equitable Development LLC is developing Fountains of Franklin, which is anchored by a 61,700-square-foot Sendik’s grocery store.
