Miracle on Canal Street seeking nonprofit grant applications

Potawatomi Bingo Casino is now accepting applications for its 2014 “Miracle on Canal Street” charity program, which awards funds to regional nonprofit organizations focused on improving quality of life for children.

The 21-year old charity initiative collects funds each August through December primarily through special bingo games played at the Milwaukee casino. Funds are distributed to selected nonprofits during a holiday celebration in December.

To be considered for a 2014 “Miracle on Canal Street” grant, nonprofit organizations must have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and work mostly with children younger than 18 years of age. Nonprofits must also be based in Milwaukee, Racine, Washington, Waukesha, Ozaukee, Dodge, Jefferson, Kenosha, Sheboygan or Walworth counties.

Applications must be post-marked by Friday, June 13, and are accessible at www.paysbig.com/miracle.

Since it launched in 1994, “Miracle on Canal Street” has made more than 550 donations worth more than $13.6 million. During last year’s 20th anniversary charity campaign, Potawatomi Bingo Casino distributed more than $1 million among 152 area children’s organizations.
